Learning Corel Painter X: Main Color and Additional Color

I decided to learn how to use Corel Painter X to satisfy my inner urges to be a digital artist. Wishful thinking, heh!

I just found out by reading through the Corel Painter X User Guide that the two boxes of color in the Colors palette window do not mean Foreground and Backgroundcolors! The front box is actually the Main Color of the media while the back box is really the Additional Color. The Main Color is the primary color that you usually paint or
draw in. Some brushes e.g. the Variable Chalk Variant can paint with both the Main Color and the Additional Color. An example stroke is shown in the figure below.


The Gradient commands can also create gradients using both the Main
Color and Additional Color. Glad I learnt something new today.
